Genshin Impact also introduced tons of popular characters to the playable roster such as the long-awaited Dendro Archon Nahida, also known as Lesser Lord Kusanali. The current update added the infamous 6th Harbinger Scaramouche, now known as an Anemo character named the Wanderer.

According to a post on the game’s official subreddit, Genshin Impact has been the by far most discussed game on Twitter in 2022. This data was apparently taken from gamesindustry.biz, and it shows that there were 12,571 tweets and 3,903,520 retweets about Genshin Impact in 2022. This does not come as a surprise considering that Wanderer’s announcement broke multiple popularity records and Nahida’s first banner appearance is now the most pulled regular banner in the game’s history. Many players consider the introduction of the new Dendro element back in update 3.0 the best change HoYoverse in 2022.
Dendro introduced tons of new elemental reactions which added much-needed diversity to the game’s combat system. Before its arrival, players had to rely on two or three viable elemental reactions in order to compete in the Spiral Abyss floors. Dendro has also brought forgotten DPS units like Keqing back into the meta, and she is now considered a must-have character for the Aggravate team composition.
Sangonomiya Kokomi is another character who was brought back to life with the new elemental reactions. Even though she was considered an underwhelming Hydro user at the time of her release, the new Bloom reaction has made her one of the most popular characters in the Spiral Abyss since she can constantly apply Hydro damage even if she’s not on the field. Developer HoYoverse has already announced their first two character additions for 2023, Alhaitham and Yaoyao.
Both characters will be using the Dendro element and are expected to appear on the first banner for Genshin Impact update 3.4, which should drop around January 18. When it comes to new regions, recent rumors have been hinting that the next act of the Archon Quest could take place in Fontaine which is expected to be the next major region to arrive. However, these rumors should still be taken with a grain of salt since players will have to wait until the end of Summer for more official information on the matter.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
