Reddit user u/psychopegasus190 recorded gameplay of Genshin Impact characters Raiden Shogun, Yelan, Bennett, and Kaedehara Kazuha leaving sand trails within the Sumeru desert. The sand trail forms footprints deep into the sand while a character walks. Additionally, sand trails may be formed during weapon attack animations from all characters that are currently available in the game.

The Reddit user demonstrates the sand trails forming in different patterns as the party of Genshin Impact characters perform their unique attack animations. Weapons do not leave marks in the sand, but character movement constantly reacts with the sand to leave trails. Geo constructs such as Zhongli’s stone pillars do not leave marks in the sand either. Furthermore, sand physics only appear to work with the highest settings in Genshin Impact version 3.0. Some Genshin Impact players on Reddit claim the sand physics are not present in the mobile version.

The accessible portion of the desert may be found in the northwest corner of Sumeru. Genshin Impact version 3.1 is currently in a beta phase and will expand the Sumeru desert with new content. Map leaks for Genshin Impact version 3.1 suggest that the expanded Sumeru desert could be as large as the main Sumeru region introduced in version 3.0. However, there’s a possibility that the expanded Sumeru desert could have barren plots of land to make it more realistic.

HoYoverse’s thorough approach to Genshin Impact development is very admirable since players are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the world of Teyvat. The Sumeru desert will provide content to explore with its own lore and secrets to uncover in Genshin Impact version 3.1 and beyond. Although the Genshin Impact update schedule is slightly altered, the developer confirmed that content will not be cut from its original plans.

Genshin Impact is well known for captivating its active player base with an ongoing main story, a regularly updated lineup of events, and an ever-evolving world. New characters also play an important role in the success of Genshin Impact, and future updates will expand the roster with characters such as Nilou and Cyno. These characters, just like those featured in this video, will likely be able to make sand trails when moving through the desert.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
