The newest in Genshin Impact’s series of character demo trailers titled “Collei: Sprout in the Thicket” shows off the Forest Ranger’s abilities. Similarly to the featured five-star, Collei is a Dendro bow user with her Elemental Skill featuring the character throwing her bow like a boomerang, dealing Dendro damage. The gameplay demo also shows off Collei’s Elemental Burst, throwing her doll named Cullein-Anbar to deal Dendro damage over time to enemies in a small area.

Collei’s trailer gives a brief introduction to her role within Genshin Impact’s lore, hinting at her connections with other characters. Collei is shown to be a part of Tighnari’s group of Forest Rangers, patrolling and securing the dense rainforests of Sumeru. Collei is also acquainted with a character Genshin Impact fans are very familiar with, previously being friends with Amber and sharing the “Gliding Champion” passive talent with the Mondstadt Outrider. Previously, Collei played a major role in Genshin Impact’s manga adaptation as well.

Collei serves as one of Genshin Impact’s first playable Dendro characters with the new update bringing with it a plethora of new gameplay mechanics related to the new element. Dendro’s addition will introduce three new elemental reactions to Genshin’s combat system. Sumeru will also feature a variety of puzzles geared towards introducing players to the mechanics of the new element and its interactions with pre-existing elements like Electro and Hydro. Leaks of the new element have already suggested Dendro will be a powerful addition to many players’ team compositions.

Beyond the three new characters being added to the game throughout Version 3.0, Genshin Impact has already shown off several other Sumeru characters set to arrive soon. HoYoVerse’s many teasers for the Sumeru region have introduced characters like Nilou, Al-Haitham, and Nahida, with the latter rumored to be the new region’s Archon. Similarly to Inazuma’s launch last year, Sumeru will also expand beyond its release update with the following Version 3.1 rumored to see Sumeru’s desert region added. Collei will be the first chance for many players to test out Genshin Impact’s newest element.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
