Reddit user u/Massivecliff recommends turning dialogue volume off in Genshin Impact’s audio settings while fishing. Paimon talks to the Traveler as the character is fishing, but her dialogue becomes redundant rather quickly. For instance, Paimon will interject about being hungry as the player reels in a prized catch. The settings change will make the fishing experience more pleasant, and audio settings may revert to default at the player’s discretion.

Paimon has 17 unique voice lines dedicated to fishing, and her voice lines activate in certain conditions such as catching a fish or seeing a fish escape. Although the Traveler spoke a few times in the main story of Genshin Impact, the protagonist does not talk while fishing. Instead, the Traveler grunts while reeling in fish as Paimon talks normally. She may also reference their initial meeting in Mondstadt where the Traveler caught Paimon believing that she was some sort of fish. Many of the comments found in u/Massivecliff’s Reddit post provide examples of Paimon’s dialogue within Genshin Impact’s fishing mini-game.

Fishing was introduced alongside the Serenitea Pot system many updates ago, and the feature was expanded with the introduction of the Sumeru region in Genshin Impact version 3.0. Many new fishing spots are scattered throughout Sumeru with a variety of fish native to the region. In addition, the latest update added a new fishing rod and a new type of fishing bait to Genshin Impact. HoYoverse will likely add even more new types of fish and equipment after introducing more areas into Genshin Impact.

Paimon’s dialogue during fishing is a source of annoyance, but HoYoverse could easily remedy the situation in future updates for Genshin Impact. The developer could reduce the amount of dialogue said during fishing and introduce new voice lines that would make the experience more pleasant. A new toggle feature could also disable fishing dialogue, so players wouldn’t need to disable all dialogue volume throughout the game while fishing.

Upcoming Genshin Impact updates such as version 3.1 will expand the Sumeru desert region with new content. HoYoverse could introduce quality-of-life improvements with these updates, but it remains to be seen if the updates address fishing in any regard.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
