This part of the update will also feature the Lantern Rite Festival, an annual Genshin Impact event that celebrates the Chinese New Year. The festival is always held in the Liyue, probably because its design is based on Chinese culture. Lantern Rite is always filled with unique events that offer players a lot of free items, including precious Primogems that are used for wishing on a banner.

Developer HoYoverse usually waits a couple of weeks before revealing the four-star banner characters that will appear on the second part of an update. However, Genshin Impact’s official social media accounts have already revealed the three characters that will join Hu Tao and Yelan. The Pyro user Hu Tao is one of the most anticipated characters, and she still holds the infamous record for skipping 10 consecutive Genshin Impact updates without a banner appearance. Her last re-run was back in November 2021, when she was introduced alongside another Pyro user named Thoma. According to the tweet, the second phase banner for update 3.4 will feature the following characters:
Hu Tao - five-star Pyro polearm user Yelan - five-star Hydro bow user Xingqiu - four-star Hydro sword user Ningguang - four-star Geo catalyst user Beidou - four-star Electro claymore user
The Hydro user Xingqiu is one of the strongest four-star characters in the game, and he always seems to have a high pick rate in most versions of the Spiral Abyss. His kit has great Hydro application which makes him a must-have unit for most team comps that rely on Hydro elemental reactions.
Beidou is also a decent four-star supportive character that can be a part of almost any type of team composition in the game. Beidou has a unique playstyle thanks to her Elemental Skill which allows her to absorb incoming damage and launch a counter-attack.
While many consider Hu Tao to be the main character of the update, a lot of players will probably spend their Primogems on Yelan, especially considering that this will be her first re-run. Before her release, some fans considered Yelan to be a five-star version of Xingqiu which could be one of the reasons why they are placed on the same banner.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
