Ayato’s addition to Genshin Impact has been rumored for several months with previous leaks revealing the character models, abilities, and constellations for the head of the Kamisato clan. While not yet appearing in-person within Genshin Impact, the leader of Inazuma’s influential Yashiro Commission is mentioned several times both during the region’s story and in voicelines. Fans were understandably excited when MiHoYo revealed Ayato would finally become playable in Version 2.6 and, now, fans have gotten their first look at Ayato in Genshin Impact’s newest character teaser.

Genshin Impact’s newest stylized trailer introduces Ayato as the head of the Kamisato clan with the character portraying his work as clan head and commissioner as “nothing exceptional.” Ayato is presented as being a very no-nonsense, down-to-earth leader of Inazuma’s influential Yashiro commission whose duties are solely for the purpose of ensuring the safety and happiness of the people of Inazuma. The trailer also features Ayato’s sister Ayaka, who will be featured on a re-run banner of her own during 2.6, and Thoma making reference to Ayato’s birthday, possibly hinting at details of Ayato’s story quest to come.

While the first trailer did not give any inclination of Ayato’s gameplay, Genshin Impact typically holds information on the character’s playstyle until their second trailer which should come within the next few days. Genshin Impact’s official reveal of Ayato confirmed the character as a Hydro swordfighter and leaks have portrayed the character as a DPS character who will have exceptional synergy with his sister Ayaka. Ayato is set to release as the first banner coinciding with the Version 2.6 update next week, officially launching on March 30 alongside the re-run of popular Mondstadt character Venti.

Genshin Impact has become all too familiar with much of its future content being leaked and the game’s passionate community of dataminers and beta testers have revealed droves of content set to come to Genshin in the coming months. Recent leaks have suggested the long-rumored Yelan will debut in Version 2.7 alongside the introduction of the Sumeru region rumored to be debuting later this year in July or August. With new characters, new regions, and a new element expected to arrive throughout 2022, Genshin Impact will look to maintain its strong position well into the future.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is currently in development.
