Out of Genshin Impact’s seven core elements, Geo holds a unique position among the game’s main combat mechanic due to its reactions with other elements. While other elements each feature unique reactions with one another, providing offensive effects like Overload and Vaporize, Geo instead focuses on a defensive approach. The Geo element features the same reaction across Genshin’s four main elements, Crystallize, which grants players a shield. However, Genshin Impact has seen a long break since its last Geo character joined the game.

Reddit user dropnation40 made the observation on the Genshin Impact subreddit that the RPG has gone almost a year since the release of its last new Geo member. Yun Jin became the most recent Geo character to join the game with her release in Genshin Impact’s Version 2.4 in January. Geo characters have also seen incredibly limited releases since the game’s launch with the element only featuring seven characters, excluding the Geo element Traveler. Another fan in the replies pointed out Geo is the game’s only element to not have a character featured on the permanent gacha banner.

As noted in the post, Geo characters have been largely absent from leaks about Genshin Impact’s upcoming characters. Out of the several leaked characters both featured in the story and rumored to be coming, no Geo characters have been confirmed to be coming to the game in the near future. Arataki Itto served as the last five-star Geo character added to Genshin Impact with the character currently featured as a re-run in the first half of Genshin’s Version 3.3.

While fans may be waiting a while for a new Geo character, the game’s newest element has seen several new characters added to the game. Genshin Impact has already featured four Dendro characters joining the game, as well as confirming two more in Version 3.4 with Al Haitham and Yaoyao. Leaks have also teased several other future additions to the cast in coming patches including the Pyro element Dehya and the Cryo element Mika. Though a new Geo character may not be coming soon, Genshin’s cast looks to grow even larger throughout future updates.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
