A video posted on the official Genshin Impact subReddit shows a funny interaction between Yoimiya and a new Sumeru NPC. Reddit user Halaman-kun has shared an interesting video showing what happens when you approach a small group of enemies located north of Sumeru City.

Upon spotting the player, one of the enemies, an Eremite Axe Vanguard, jumped up and actually broke her guitar in anger before taking out an axe. She is a part of the infamous mercenary group called The Eremites, who conduct business with anyone as long as the pay is good. The video was well-received in the Genshin Impact community as it gathered over 3k upvotes and multiple replies in the comment section claim that this is proof that HoYoverse took the exploration experience to the next level with the release of the new Sumeru region.
Numerous fans claim that even though Genshin Impact’s official storyline has also seen some improvements, they are more impressed by the small details like the one shown in the video. A couple of players have stated that they often just randomly stand and appreciate the new enemy’s idle animations from a safe distance. Sumeru’s NPCs can be seen doing various activities such as dancing, playing cards, or petting animals, which was not the case in the three previously released major regions, Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma.
The improved approach to enemy design gives the impression that the NPCs are not just patiently waiting for their encounter with the players. According to recent leaks, Genshin Impact version 3.0 has introduced only one part of Sumeru and the remaining segments are apparently scheduled for future updates. Rumors have been hinting that once all parts of the new region are unlocked, it will be larger than Mondstadt and Liyue combined.
Players are hoping that the game introduces additional enemy types in the upcoming updates which will arrive sooner than usual as the recent live stream event confirmed a slight change to the game’s update schedule. In order to compensate for the three-week delay that occurred during update 2.6, the first three Sumeru updates will be one week shorter which means that Genshin Impact version 3.1 should arrive on September 28.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
