Genshin Impact Catalysts are one of the game’s weapon types, and each of them has a corresponding element and Vision. Reddit user Dabian111 has observed several details in Catalysts while playing as the Geo character Ningguang. Each Catalyst in the post focuses on different illustrations and text inside, with Ascension playing a role in how the Catalyst appears. The pages of the tome that is the Catalyst aren’t the only thing that varies, as Dabian111 shows that reaching Ascension changes the Genshin Impact weapon in other ways.

The first Genshin Impact Catalyst that Dabian111 shows off is The Widsith, which has a left page that features a colorless bunch of grapes with some text, while the page next to it is full of writing. In Genshin Impact’s story, The Widsith once belonged to a member of the Wanderer’s Troupe who fought against the Lawrence clan and failed which made it possible for players to acquire it. The Ascended version of The Widsith fills in the grapes and their leaves with appropriately purple and green colors and the majority of the Catalyst’s cover turns from blue to brown.

The Mappa Mare Catalyst in Genshin Impact includes a brighter cover with a compass on the front cover and two small scrolls on the outsides of the open book. Showing the Catalyst from two different angles, Dabian111 is able to show what appears to be a map of Teyvat on the left page and writing on the other page similar to The Widsith. In the Genshin Impact lore, The Mappa Mare contains the courage, knowledge, and faith of pioneering explorers and the included map reflects that.

Genshin Impact’s Favonius Codex Catalyst contains the collective knowledge of Mondstadt, and it once aptly belonged to the Knights of Favonius. Unlike the other Catalysts Dabian111 focuses on, this one features an illustration of a mark typically associated with Genshin Impact’s Knights of Favonius on the right side and text on the opposite page. This weapon also includes a quill that changes color that’s inserted next to the mark that also converts to a different symbol if the Genshin Impact player is Ascended.

Developers at miHoYo have made efforts to ensure the Catalysts reflect the Genshin Impact lore associated with them, which is more noticeable when observing the weapons closely. Other weird details spotted in Genshin Impact recently include players being able to pinball off cliff walls or swim through the sky, hidden buffs, and sudden changes in weather patterns upon entering a city. These important Catalyst lore details may give Genshin Impact fans more to appreciate as they explore and learn more about the world of Teyvat.

Genshin Impact is available right now for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5.
