The recent Special Program event for Genshin Impact update 3.4 has confirmed that Hu Tao will appear in the second part of the current update. She won’t be the only five-star character in the Limited Character Banner as the live stream confirmed another Liyue character, the Hydro bow user Yelan.

Reddit user AruAruBeam has shared a couple of interesting Hu Tao-themed animated cursor designs that gathered over 1k upvotes on Genshin Impact’s main subreddit. A couple of comments have stated that they like the fact that the design also includes Hu Tao’s iconic spirit whose identity is still unknown, but he goes by the name Boo Tao in the community. Hu Tao is known as a cheerful character who enjoys pulling various pranks on her friends. However, while doing her job as the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao becomes much more serious.

At the moment, there is a lot of hype about Hu Tao’s arrival, mainly because she has not appeared on a banner since November 2021, despite being a fan favorite. She is the only character in the game’s history to miss 10 consecutive Genshin Impact updates, which is a record that is unlikely to be broken any time soon. In comparison, Arataki Itto was released after Hu Tao’s last banner appearance, and he already received two additional re-runs.

The main reason why Hu Tao is such a popular character is her unique playstyle that rewards players for having low HP. Hu Tao receives significant Pyro damage and Elemental Burst buffs if players manage to keep her below 50% HP. Unfortunately, this means that she does not have great synergy with Bennett who has become the go-to support for most team compositions in Genshin Impact.

Players who want to use Hu Tao as their main DPS should also try to get Xingqiu who will be part of the four-star lineup. They work great together thanks to Xingqiu’s constant Hydro application which allows Hu Tao to trigger Vaporize, which is one of the best elemental reactions in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
